ADOPTION PROCESS

Starting the process

Look through our current dogs to see which of ourdogs you are interested in adopting. At the end of each dog’s profile, you can click the link to complete our online adoption application and submit it to HRAAD.

From there, our Placement team will review, contact your references, and then call you to discuss that dog’s specific needs and whether that dog will be a good fit for your lifestyle.

From there, we will schedule a meet & greet appointment.

You can also come meet our dogs and kick off the adoption process during our open meet & greets!

Scheduled meet & greet appointment

HRAAD requires all family members and dogs with whom our adoptable dog will reside to participate in the meet and greet. This meet and greet is for our dog’s benefit as well as all household members. HRAAD believes that in order to assure the best possible adoption outcome our dog must be comfortable with and behave appropriately with all individuals in the family.

Final steps

Once everyone is ready to finalize the adoption one of HRAAD’s placement team members will review all known behavior and medical information in the dog’s adoption packet. They will explain HRAAD’s adoption contract and return policy before requesting your signature.

They will also explain our adoption fees and required refundable spay/neuter deposit policy for all dogs/puppies under one year old. We accept cash, check, or credit cards for adoption fees.

Click for more information about how your fees are used and why we require spay/neuter deposits

Lastly, we always request an adoption photo. With the adopter’s permission, we will post that photo on our social media including Facebook, Instagram, and for future use.

This is our way of celebrating the start of a long, happy, and “fur-ever” life together!

What else do I need to know?

  • Submitting an application does not commit you to adopting a dog, nor does it guarantee an adoption will result from its submission.
  • Your application allows us to start the assessment as to whether the dog and potential adopter are a good fit.
  • Applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received.
  • If your application is selected, one of our Placement Team members will give you a call to tell you more about the dog, answer any questions you may have, and find out more about your household.
  • If we mutually feel it may be a good match, and after your references are verified, a meet and greet will be scheduled.
  • If you are living in a rental property, written approval from the landlord or a copy of the lease allowing you to have a dog on the property will need to be submitted prior to the meet and greet.
  • All members of the household, including canine members, need to be present at the meet and greet.
  • If the meet and greet goes well, and we mutually feel it is a good match you will be able to take the dog home the same day.
  • If the dog you apply for is adopted by another family, you may apply your application to another adoptable dog on our website within 90 days of its submission by simply emailing the name of the dog you would like your application applied to at: adopt.hraad@gmail.com
  • Factors such as number of hours alone, methods of confinement, yard/fence size, puppy/dog breed experience, number of current dogs in the household, and needs of the particular dog – exercise, medical and behavioral – are all considered for placement.
  • If you have any questions during this process, please call us at (541) 354-1083 or email our Placement Coordinator at adopt.hraad@gmail.com.
  • Placement Coordinator Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm; Thursday 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm; Saturday by appointment
