Barbara was discovered alone in the woods, most likely abandoned after raising a litter of puppies found in the same area earlier this year. The patience of Hood River Adopt a Dog shelter staff earned Barbara’s trust enough to bring her back to the shelter. Once at the shelter, Barbara received care from our experienced staff, and was seen at Tucker Road Animal Hospital for a medical exam. After a few weeks with lots of TLC from our shelter volunteers and staff–with plenty of rest and nutrition–Barbara started to show her sweet personality.

Hood River Adopt a Dog advocated in the community to find a good home for her. Today, Barbara is living her best life with a wonderful family who absolutely adores her. Despite her difficult start, this big, beautiful gal showed nothing but love and gentleness — a reminder of just how resilient dogs can be.
