After losing their senior dog Ray earlier in the year, Hood River locals Cheyanne and Eric felt ready to open their hearts to a new companion. They turned to Hood River Adopt a Dog (HRAAD). where they had previously adopted their beloved Ray, to help them find their new fur-ever friend.
“We had such a positive experience with HRAAD before, adopting our senior dog Ray. He touched our hearts in so many ways during his last year with us. So, when we were ready for another dog, we kept an eye on the HRAAD website, knowing we’d find the perfect match,” Cheyanne shared.

Cheyanne and Eric felt a small dog would be the best fit, as they love bringing their pup along on all their adventures (although “when choosing our dogs, in the end we always follow our hearts,” Cheyanne said.) And when they saw Judo—then known as Rex—their hearts spoke for them.
Cheyanne and Eric officially adopted Judo in June—and while he was a bit timid at first, with patience, love, and lots of snuggles, he quickly began to come out of his shell. “He loves to cuddle and run around with Eric. He’s also a big fan of treats! Sometimes he even falls asleep sitting up in the corner of the couch,” Cheyanne said, laughing.
Today, Judo is thriving in his new home. He enjoys walks, hikes, and has even experienced his first overnight beach trip. But no matter where their adventures take them, Judo is always excited to come back home.
“Our favorite moments are when Judo is snuggled up next to us, sleeping peacefully. Eric loves watching him get the zoomies around the house—it’s impossible not to smile,” Cheyanne shared.
